2007 Earth Day: SCS brings three high schools together for service and fun!

2007 St. Patrick's Day
The Healing Power of Humor Comedy Showcase and FUNdraiser benefited Sitkans Against Family Violence (SAFV). The evening was a big success, with every seat in the Sheetka Kwaan Naa-Kahidi community house filled. $2,177 was rasied for SAFV and people had some very hardy laughs along the way. The Wednesday promotional event "Operation Leprachaun" involved 14 people and including students from Mount Edgecumbe, Pacific High and Sitka High School Peer helpers. Sitkans Against Family Violence T.R.A.I.N. Project
T.R.A.I.N.--Teens Resisting Abuse and Initiating Nonviolence, is an after school group that engages students in nonviolent activities that range from art projects, theatre games and exercises, cooking meals together, to writing about social change. The ultimate goal is to build a respectful cohesive group dynamic among the participants as well as train them as peer educators on issues of dating violence prevention. Read more... |
